Additional Skills

Karl has an interest in both choreography and the preservation of dance. Karl has worked extensively as a rehearsal assistant for productions at UNCSA and for one month with the Atlanta Ballet. At UNCSA, Karl has been a rehearsal assistant for productions of “The Nutcracker” and “Napoli,” and organized and managed over 100 pages of choreographic notations. In 2023, Karl was invited to Atlanta Ballet to assist resident choreographer Claudia Schreier as she set her World Premiere "Carnivale." He looks forward to following up on this experience and will be creating a new choreographic work on students at UNCSA in the Spring of 2024.

Karl has led the @uncsadance Social Media Team for over two years and has been a member of the team since 2021. Karl’s work has produced over 25 million views across three separate social media platforms. Karl works alongside UNCSA’s Strategic Communications Department to facilitate and create new content. He recently had the opportunity to create a takeover for social media of The Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts and star in an advertisement for Mercedes Benz of Greensboro and Winston-Salem.

Karl has had several opportunities to work on Dance for Film productions during his time at UNCSA. Karl has danced and acted in Garen Scribner and Danielle Rowe's "Swan Lake: Cancelled," Ilya Kozadayev's "The Nutcracker - An Original Film," and multiple student-led creations including a motion-capture production.

Karl was heavily involved in a variety of extracurriculars growing up. He continues to enjoy acting, singing, craft-making, sports, and circus arts. Karl has over 10 years of martial arts experience and is a second-degree Tang-Soo-Do Karate Black Belt. Karl also is proficient in circus arts and was a part of Carnegie Mellon University's "Masters of Flying Objects" juggling club. Karl enjoys theater having attended acting programs at Pace University and was a finalist in the Pittsburgh Public Theatre's Shakespeare Monologue Competition.
